I read an article about eating to stop climate change and it forever changed my life. The article talked about a documentary entitled, "Forks Over Knives" and features Dr. T. Colin Campbell, his son, Dr. Michael Campbell, and a number of other esteemed medical professionals. For the first time in my 50 plus years of life, I realized that I had been brainwashed about food. I had been deceived by the food industry about nutrition and the best sources for one of our most important macronutrients - Protein. I always thought the best source was from animals and now I know better. Since eliminating animal protein or "anitein" from my diet, my state of health has made enormous gains. I sleep better, weigh much less, and all my biometrics are envied by my internist. No AniTein 4 Life!!!
Living a Plant Based Life
Eliminating animal protein from my diet has enriched my health more than I could have imagined. I was skeptical and concerned about how I would get enough protein in my diet. I no longer have that concern. Protein is a macronutrient and therefore a major component making up the bulk of most foods. I just discovered that 1 cup of cooked lupini beans has 26 grams of protein, 5 grams of fiber, and only 200 calories. 26 Grams of Protein!!! And, they are easy on your digestive system. I have discovered a whole new world of vegetables and it is paying off. Being good to my insides is showing up on my outside. My acne is gone. I dropped a bunch of weight. I am more alert and think more clearly. And, best of all, my health stats are better than they have ever been. I don't miss animal protein at all. I know how harmful it is to the body, which makes it is easy to abstain forever!
Eating My Colors
I am off all my medications. My medical expenditures for meds have been reduced to zero. My blood sugar is finally normal. My blood pressure is finally normal. My total cholesterol is less than 130 for the first time in my life. My BMI is no longer indicative of obesity. My life expectancy has statistically increased as a result. I am finally a poster child for good health and I like it!!!
Medication Freedom
Living a whole food, plant based lifestyle was easier to convert to than I thought it would be. I thought I would especially miss bacon, but learning to live without animal fat, excessive oil, and salt in my diet has changed my taste buds. I am now convinced that I really never knew what real food really tasted like. I can't ever remember a peach tasting as good as it tastes now. Some of my favorite foods now are beets, grilled Thai eggplant, purple brussel sprouts, and mushrooms of the exotic kind. I had a lobster mushroom, named so because of its color, for the first time in my adult life. You should check out Lion's Mane mushrooms too. They are delicious. I can never go back to eating "fake food" for the rest of my now very long life. My new lifestyle is benefittiing my health in ways I never imagined. I am back to single digits ladies!!!
Back to Single Digits
Don't betray your body with fake food. I did just that for many years and was an unwilling participant because of everything I was taught about nutrition. I was awakened from ignorance by the documentary Forks Over Knives and even then I had to do some research before fully committing to this new lifestyle. There is an abundance of reputable research that demonstrates the benefits of a whole food, plant-based lifestyle. I am a believer and my belief is paying health dividends. I lost 85 pounds, diabetes and a hefty monthly medical prescription expense. I am using my savings to go on vacations I always dreamed about. I fit comfortably in airline seats and I no longer mind the middle seat. Become a believer and get a bounty of health dividends!
A True Believer
When I walk the aisles of the grocery store, I am often stumped by the sight of dried fruits. Now that I am living a whole food, plant-based lifestyle, I don't understand why anyone would purposely remove the water from a fruit and then consume it. The water is the thirst quenching part of the whole food. Removing the water concentrates the fiber and the sugar, turning the fruit into candy. Consuming a lot of dried fruit is not sustainable. I much prefer the whole, unadulterated fruit as it looks in nature. Don't Mess with Mother Nature! Consume fruits and vegetables as they exist in nature to maximize the health benefits!
